OILZUM was one of the earliest brands of motor oil, appearing along with the horseless carriage at the dawn of the twentieth century. The name was first used in commerce on May 17, 1905. The original drawing featured a more cartoonish version of the motorist, with chipmunk buck teeth and big ears.
